Rock Lichens Ballyconneely

Bog Road Connemara

Pauline Scott

Pauline Scott studied art part time at the NCAD and at Dun Laoghaire Art School. She also studied the History of European Painting at UCD.

She developed an interest in landscape painting, initially in oils, but later specialised in watercolour painting. She is interested in the delicate yet rich and subtle pigments in watercolour and its transparency. Favourite subjects include in particular the colour and light on the Connemara seashore and boglands. Other subjects of interest are villages and woodlands, including colourful village subjects in Tuscany, Spain and France. Technique involves detailed drawings and colour notes on site and later development of the subject in delicate transparent layers of watercolour. Watercolour on wet paper has a life of its own not found in oil painting.

Pauline Scott is a member of, and exhibitor with, several art societies including the Dublin Painting and Sketching Club (past Honorary Secretary), The Water Colour Society of Ireland (past Honorary Secretary and President).  She exhibits at Group exhibitions including RHA, RUA, Annual Exhibitions at the Mater and St Vincents Hospitals and the Kilcock Art Gallery. Work was recently included at a European Watercolour Exhibition in Bellagio Italy.

Her work is represented in Permanent Collections of University of Limerick, The Department of Foreign Affairs and the Department of Health. Work is also in the Collection of Enterprise Ireland, the Office of Public Works and in private Collections in Ireland and abroad.
