Occadional tutor / demonstrator for art associations.
Secretary of the Watercolour Society of Ireland, Member of the Dublin
Art Society and the Dublin Painting and Sketching Club.
Past president of the Dublin Art Society.
Exhibitions: Royal Hibernian Academy, The Watercolour Society of
Ireland, The Dublin Painting and Sketching Club, Dublin Art Society,
the Barhain Art Society.
Galleries: Paintings have been shown and sold at Kenny's Gallery,
Galway, Kinsale Gallery, Kilcock Gallery, the Oriel Gallery, James
Gallery and Miller's, Clifen, Co. Galway.
Collections: Works are in the Irish Department of Foreign
Affairs, Iaranroid Eireann, the permanent collection of Limerick
University and in private collections in Ireland, England, America and
in the collection of the Royal Family, Barhain.
Academic Data:
2002 PhD (UCD), a theses entitled 'Accoutrements, Carriage,
Portraits and Memorials of Lords Chancellor of Ireland 1600-1860,
partly published.
1991 BA (Hons)in the History of Art and Archaeology.
As an undergraduate awarded the Francoise Henry Memorial Prize and the
Donal Byrne Memorial Prize.
1980 Diploma in the History of European Painting (Trinity
College Dublin)
1979 Diploma in the History of European Painting
(UCD). Awarded the Purser Griffith Scholarship.
Post Graduate:
1991 Lectured in UCD to undergraduates and diploma students.
1992 Performed a variety of tasks in the Education
Department of the National Gallery of Ireland.
1992... During a four year term living in Barhain ME, gave
an annual series of lectures on the History of European Art.
1999-2000 Voluntary Assistant to the Curator of Prints and
Drawings and the Curator of Irish Paintings in the NGI.
PRESENTLY Lecturer at a variety of Adult Education centres and
NGI: Member of the RDS Viaual Arts Committee, Tour Guide at the
Chester Beatty Library: Secretary, Irish Association of Art
Historians and Watercolour Society of Ireland.
